PENGGUNAAN PCM SEBAGAI MATERIAL PENYIMPAN KALOR PADA LEMAR PENDINGIN

Abstract

PCM (phase change material) is material that can absorb heat or release when changing phase, when it absorbs heat it changes from solid to liquid, and releases heat when it changes from liquid to solid. Vegetable Oil has good properties as a PCM because it has a melting temperature in accordance with household refrigerator. This research was conducted by comparing household refrigerator using PCM and without PCM, the results showed that household refrigerator using PCM can maintain a cooling load temperature of 9.9 oC in the 300th minute, and a storage room temperature of 17.9 oC. Whereas, household refrigerator without PCM the temperature of the cooling load only lasts at 20.7 o C and the storage room temperature is 26.2 o C. The results of this study indicate that using PCM in a household refrigerator can maintain cold temperatures longer than without PCM.
