Abstract

Welding Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) is welding process using electrodes as a producer of flame arcs and noble gases as protectors. In the TIG welding parameters that must be considered are the welding speed, current and electrode diameter. The selection of the right welding parameters can produce optimum physical and mechanical properties.

This research was conducted  in the Laboratory of Mechanical  Engenering Mechanical Engenering  Study Program AKPRIND Yogyakarta Institut & Technology.Science

The aim of this study is entitled the effect of welding speed of Tungsten Inert Gas on physical micro structure and Mechanical properties of tensile strenght the greatest impact welding medium carbon steel. The welding speeds chosen are 1,5 dan 9 mm/sec.

The result of the research produced welding speeds of 1,5 and 9 mm/sec were for tensile strenght of 44.06, 42,16 and 40,16 kg/mm2 , the impact price were a70,21, 127,28 and 101,99 Joule, and the amount the pearlite item are 269,260 and 250 grain.
