Abstract

This study discusses the influence of the Coanda effect on a bubble generator device to enhance the dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration in water. The Coanda effect is a fluid flow phenomenon in which a jet tends to adhere to a curved surface. In this research, the effect is utilized to direct the airflow in the bubble generator to produce smaller and more uniformly distributed bubbles. Smaller bubble sizes are expected to increase the contact surface area between air and water, thereby improving oxygen transfer efficiency. Experiments were conducted with variations in nozzle shapes and curvature angles to observe their effects on dissolved oxygen levels. The results show that the application of the Coanda effect significantly increases dissolved oxygen concentration compared to systems without the effect. This finding indicates that bubble generator designs utilizing the Coanda effect can serve as an effective alternative for improving aeration efficiency in aquatic systems.
