Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed foreign language learning into a more flexible and online-based process. Various online language learning applications offer different features, making it difficult for users to determine the most suitable application for their needs. This study aims to develop a decision support system for selecting online language learning applications using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. The criteria used include subscription cost, feature completeness, application rating, learning method, and language availability. The research was conducted through literature review, observation, criteria weighting, normalization, and preference value calculation. The results show that Duolingo achieved the highest preference value of 0.94, making it the best alternative. System testing was carried out by comparing manual calculation results with system-generated results. The testing results indicate an accuracy rate of 100%, demonstrating that the system is capable of generating recommendations consistent with the SAW method calculations. The developed web-based system is expected to assist users in selecting language learning applications more effectively, objectively, and systematically.
