Abstract

This research aims to develop a web-based lecture scheduling application with time
and space optimization at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas PGRI
Yogyakarta. Manual scheduling using Microsoft Excel and a non-integrated system
results in schedule conflicts and information delays. To address this, a system is
designed using a genetic algorithm capable of optimizing while simultaneously
considering various constraints. The application was developed using the CodeIgniter
framework and a MySQL database with different access rights for admins, lecturers,
and students. Testing was conducted using blackbox and alpha test methods by 18
respondents using a Google Form by filling out a questionnaire. The test results show
that the system functions according to specifications, is able to optimize the use of time
and space, reduces potential conflicts, and provides access to real-time schedule
information for lecturers and students.
